Sorry... I know this is probably a silly question. I have a 1979 Kubota B6100E Tractor. It is overheating. I've been going over the owners manual and cannot find any information on servicing the water pump. Doesn't it have one? Where is it? I apologize if this is a really stupid question... just need to know. Thank you for your response.

Not sure about your model, but most of these compacts don't. It is very important to insure you use a 50% water 50% coolant mixture in the radiator for it to circulate properly. ....

The Older B series tractors operate on a "thermo-Siphon" cooling system rather than a water Pump. It is a good system, however proper maintenance is a must. Check the wire screen in front of the radiator to see that is not clogged up with grass, chaff, etc. Also check the front of the radiator to see that the cooling fins are not clogged as well. You may be low on coolant, but chances are it's just a dirty radiator screen, or fins. Worst case, the inside of the radiator is clogged from corrosion. Hope this helps. ....

1. Clean the radiator by directing a garden hose on the back of the fins (next to the fan). Forcing the trapped material in the fins to be flushed out the front. You might be surprised to see how much you get out.2. Flush the cooling system with some fairly mild flushing solution like Prestone's Radiator flush at less than full concentration for less that half the recommended time. (It's a small system compared to a car). 3. flush the cleaned cooling system for 5 or 10 minutes with the garden hoseto make sure that all the acid is flushed out.4. Clean out the radiator protector screen and make sure that the front of the radiator is not blocked by paper or some such. One person had put a huge battery in the front of the tractor and mounted it right against the radiator.5. New 50/50 solution. It wouldn't hurt to use distilled or soft water for the dilution. 6. Remember that a thermosiphon WILL NOT WORK when the radiator is lots lower than the motor....like doing heavy work with the nose downhill....such as building a steep downhill ditch. This is an extreme, but I've seen it happen. Enjoy! Roger L ....

One more thing. On the Yanmars with thermosiphon Yanmar recommends no more than 30% concentration of antifreeze. Most find that any more than 30% anti freeze overheats the tractor.Do as the other posters suggest and make sure that the Radiator is clean inside and out.let us know how ya turn out.Keith ....

NOW YOU TELL ME!... LOLI followed all of the previous instructions I've gotten here... you were all so helpful -- I was really impressed that you took the time to explain so clearly to me what needed to be done (as in how to hose off the front of the radiator from the back -- I just would not have thought of that!). I flushed the radiator out with the stuff (that was recommended) and followed the directions... and everything seems to be working really well... I ran the little tractor for about an hour and a half yesterday and - it was fine! It didn't overheat at all. (before, the longest I could run it without it boiling over was 10 minutes!) I just can not tell everyone enough how much I appreciated the assistance I've received at this site! ....
